Last July ISO approved the standard, Environmental management systems – Guidelines for incorporating ecodesign ISO 14006:2011, which had been proposed by Spain and it is based on the Norm UNE 15031 created by the Spanish Association of Standardisation and Certification (AENOR).
According to AENOR, Eco-design is a method that identifies – from the very first moment a product or service is planned – all the environmental impacts that may occur along its production process and use, and also when the product is discharged or the service is finished. By identifying the impacts it is hoped that they can be minimised without losing any quality or applications of the product or service.
This new norm is compatible with the norms ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and EMAS.
